First full day of the cruise! I’m so glad to be abord the amazing Discovery Princess! This beautiful ship already feels like home!
6:00 AM: I wake up with no memory of falling asleep to the rocking boat. Emily is sleeping, so I guess it’s time to explore the ship while nobody is awake. I walk the Lido deck and check out the Piazza.
7:51 AM: I’m waiting for Emily to wake up, because Zumba is at nine.
9:00 AM: Emily is awake and we are going to Zumba. The teacher is Natalie, a dancer aboard the Discovery Princess. She teaches a dance fitness class. I look forward to seeing her perform tonight in Viva la Musica, a production show.
9:46 AM: Now that dance fitness is over, Emily and I head to the Beach House, the teen program aboard. We play uno with some girls.
11:00 AM: Effy, the jewelry store, gives away a free pendant, and we bring a friend with us to the Princess Theater to get the necklace.
12:00 PM: Jayson, the cruise director, teaches a line dance class. We learn some fun line dances. My dad is working on his hip flexibility. It needs some work, but we’ll get there! Jayson made up funny stories for each dance, and one African dance he called digging for diamonds. My dad got confused and struck some random poses in the middle of the dance. We got a core workout from just laughing!
12:45 PM: It’s lunchtime if you ask me! We head to the Ketchikan dining room were we eat delicious food cooked right onboard.
2:00 PM: Emily and Dad go to merengue dance class while Mom and I head to arts and crafts, where we make cross stitch wooden banners. Mine says “LIV❤” and Mom’s said “M+C❤,” which are my parent’s initials.
3:00 PM: We meet up for afternoon tea in the Juneau dining room, where we eat mini sandwiches and discuss the day. We talk about our plan for the rest of the day and the effects of caffeine on the body.
3:30 PM: Even though we have an hour until our dinner reservation, we begin to get ready for formal night. I change into a blue sparkly gown, and Emily wears a pink and red floral dress.
5:00 PM: Dinner is always the longest meal of the day. We ate for two hours! The meals are amazing, and we met our waiters Yashesh and Tendai, who are from India and Zimbabwe, respectively. Emily and Mom order lemonades while my dad wants two iced teas, so to look like less of a pig, he orders one for me. (I just want to note that for the entire week, my dad ordered me an iced tea for every meal for himself, and the waiter didn’t know.) After dinner, we go to the Lido deck for second dessert.
7:30 PM: We find seats in the Princess Theater for Viva la Musica, a Latin-inspired dance production show. Natalie and her colleagues did an amazing job! It was such a fun experience.
8:30 PM: We head from one show to the neck, once again watching Robbie Printz in the Vista Lounge and his comedy act. He was really good!
9:15 PM: I’m tired and ready for bed. I know, you think its early. I spent a whole day doing stuff, and I want to be refreshed for tomorrow.
See you tomorrow in Cabo San Lucas!
