Yesterday, we had yet another track meet, and like usual, the van was chaotic.

The sights:

  • a van full of eighth graders swerving wildly on the road
  • backpacks everywhere
  • a weird phone holder thing that did not work properly
  • Luke’s shoe-less feet
  • Coach Chase’s blingy gold watch

The sounds:

  • Luca munching on chicken
  • Gunnar singing for some reason
  • Emily asking, “who’s most likely to be homeless?”
  • Mikka arguing with the coach about the definition of teasing
  • the back row. completely. silent.
  • country music

The smells:

  • feet
  • chicken
  • Jolly Ranchers
  • PB & J
  • cologne
  • bananas
  • old van smell

Today is going to be crazy. We don’t have real school, but we basically have a homework marathon, all due before 3 PM. Yes, it’s distance learning day. Last time we did this, it was at Kinley’s house. This time, I’m hosting.

We have track at three, and then right after that, I have a choir showcase. It’s pretty short, only two songs, and then I have a three-hour devised theater class.

It’s a pretty chill day.

Thank you so much, Mrs. Johnson for assigning a time with God. I love to just sit and journal and pray without feeling too overwhelmed by the rest of the world and all of the crazy things I have to do. I’m so grateful to have just a moment of quiet.

In the comments: If you were on the van, share what happened, because honestly, I barely remember. If not, what is your most crazy story ever?

Thank you for reading, and remember to take a break sometimes. You deserve it.
