Dog Files: Episode 3
We began by establishing rules as leaders. Maya worked everything online. She made blueprints for Binky to follow up on. I was the alpha because I came up with the idea.
Our first step was to find an entry point. Maya researched neighborhoods, zoning laws, and digging rules. Bella began spreading the word about our mission to every other dog we knew.
We found a great entry point. An old house in a sketchy part of town. As a team, we began making this house our home base. The house was surrounded by overgrown ivy, bushes, and trees, so nobody would tell if a ton of dogs traveled in and out. Our owners would notice, however, if we were missing. We needed strays.
Binky: Nobody would notice if a stray were missing.
Me: Good idea. Do you know any?
Bella: I do. She’s a scruffy terrier. She was abandoned at the gas station last year. I feel bad for her. She needs this job.
Scruffy is what we called her. She was happy to help us as long as we provided her with proper shelter and care. The poor thing was so skinny we could see her ribs.
Your friend,
Blueberry
