Essay on Emotions

I wrote this essay for English homework and thought it could help you!

Emotional intelligence is an important life skill for people of all ages. In the workspace, employees should understand how to manage social situations and stressful deadlines. Students should know how to manage jealously and bullies. This skill is a must have. Kids who learn how to navigate their stresses, feelings, and impatience grow up to be responsible and honest adults. Schools need to teach their students about emotional intelligence.

As children mature, they face their share of struggles at home, school, and other activities. Some people say that parents are responsible for their children to grow up knowing how to be social…but parents aren’t perfect. There is no way that two people can fully shape a child’s life. During the average school day, a student sees their teachers more than their parents. Teachers are not only responsible for their students’ education. Education does no good when people can’t manage their emotional balance. Teachers should be responsible for their pupils’ emotional intelligence. These children need to be informed about what is tolerated and what is not. Containing negative feelings for a long period of time is extremely un-healthy, both for the mind and the body.

It is rather difficult to teach emotional intelligence while teaching students about Physics and the Parabolic Curve. Creating a balance of academic instruction and emotional intelligence takes away from both aspects of a class. There needs to be a class dedicated only to emotional intelligence. Teachers could talk about day-to-day situations that kids might be experiencing. Bullies, trauma, mental wellness, and how to handle stress. If something hard is going on, kids have a habit of covering up their emotions instead of getting them over with. It’s like a pimple, you can cover it up as much as you want, but it’s still there. Teachers can teach kids that they can’t let the emotions build up without knowing it. Every school should offer a class like this, it would help shape the students.

Psychology is very important for kids to understand. The kids who aren’t well educated in this field mature to be teenagers whose mental wellness suffers. These teenagers can grow to be socially awkward adults who may take extreme measures to deal with their problems. The students who do learn about emotional intelligence become kind, confident teenagers. When these emotionally intelligent teenagers become adults, they thrive at work and don’t let negative emotions build up. Teaching emotional intelligence at school is crucial for success.
