There’s a certain part of the year that feels special to me. It’s a long stretch of time from March until summer that just resonates with a feeling of Joy. I think a mix of the weather and more activities make the pace of the year speed up quite a bit, making everything exciting.

Around this time last year, I was getting ready for the D.C. trip, which was one of the highlights of my year. That trip was where I became friends with Luca, which was a highlight because he’s a great friend. I learned so much on that trip and had an amazing time with my people. Now my “people” are a little different, and I’ve changed so much and grown into myself, but inside I’m still the same and I’ll carry D.C. with me forever.

I’m so excited for this year’s times of Joy. We can dress stylishly and do fun things outside. Yes, there are a lot of tests and stress, but I’m ready for it. Because we can go on more adventures, the time will be filled with excitement and love all around.

I have been talking to my friend Jordan about how we will both get our licenses this year and have total freedom. I can’t wait to get a job, but I have to wait until August, and then school will basically be starting. I’m excited to not be a freshman anymore. I will really, really miss my seniors, though. When I can drive, I will go so many places and have more time because I don’t have to work around my parents’ schedules. I wish Gunnar would come back. When he does, we are all going to go on a road trip down the coast. It will be amazing.

I caught a case of waiting for summer again! Last summer wasn’t totally amazing, so hopefully this year will be the best one yet. I’m in a much better place mentally and maturity-wise and feel more secure in my friendships.
